Diversity & Cultural Competence in Clinical Practice

This course is designed to fulfill the 3.0 supervision requirements of the Iowa Board of Social Work for LISWs providing supervision to LMSW.

Diversity and Cultural Competence in Clinical Supervision

During this session, participants will develop awareness of the influence of cultural diversity and its effect on communication between supervisor and supervisees. Participants will also increase their knowledge on effective ways of assisting the supervisee with gaining self-awareness on their own personal morals, beliefs and values in order to promote the supervisee’s clinical development.

 

Presenter

 

Bonita H. Porter, MSW, LCSW; has 30 years of experience in public and private behavioral health care as a clinician and administrator. Her specialty areas are assessing and improving cultural competency in behavioral healthcare and the workplace, clinical supervision and conflict resolution. Bonita is the Provider Network Director with an LME-MCO.
