Becoming More Experiential: Integrating Mindfulness-based Therapy Approaches

This workshop is designed to provide a theoretical foundation and practical strategies for clinicians to integrate mindfulness into their work with clients. This workshop will also include a discussion of how to introduce and utilize Compassion Focused Therapy for clients struggling with shame and self-critical thought patterns.

 

  • Have an increased understanding of how to integrate mindfulness techniques into my work with clients.
  • Demonstrate how to bring a more experiential focus into my work with clients.
  • Utilize mindfulness approaches to enhance my self-care and increase my self-awareness

About the Presenter:  Lars Peterson, LISW, is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice. Lars specializes in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship issues, trauma symptoms and work/vocational issues. Lars also works with couples and families.

Lars serves as a trainer for Employee Family Resources (EFR). Training topics include mental health, diversity, team building and leadership and communication issues. Lars is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa, Des Moines campus.

Lars serves as a consultant to family businesses on ownership and management transition issues, conflict resolution, family harmony, leadership development and effective communication.

Lars’ background includes working in leadership roles for both private companies and not-for-profit organizations including Eyerly Ball Community Mental Health Center, Iowa State University, and Transition Point Business Advisors. Lars has also mediated business, neighborhood, family, and personal disputes. 

Lars holds B.S. and M.S.W. degrees from the University of Iowa.
