This course has been designed to meet the requirements of the Iowa Board of Social Work & the Iowa Board of Behavioral Health for LISWs, LMHCs and LMFTS who are providing clinical supervision to LMSWs, t-LMHCs and t-LMFTS working towards their clinical licensure.
This NASW-IA sponsored comprehensive 6-hour workshop addresses the most critical issues for the clinical supervisor in social work.
Key concepts to be covered include:
- Responsibilities and models of supervision.
- Iowa regulatory and NASW requirements for supervision and the supervision plan.
- Parallel process and effectively evaluating and improving supervision.
- Research examining supervision models will be explored.
Through presentation, large group and small group discussions, the following aspects of supervision will be explored in this training:
- The purpose, role, and functions of supervision.
- Theories and models of supervision.
- Oversight and guidance of supervisees who diagnose, create treatment plans, and treat clients.
- Individual supervision facilitation.
Presenter:
Sharaine Webster (she/her) has a rich background in mental health advocacy, specializing in behavioral and substance use addictions, sexual health and wellness, and LGBTQ+ issues. Her work encompasses teaching as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa, operating her own mental health therapy practice, and conducting assessments for the Iowa Department of Corrections and Department of Human Services. Sharaine is an independent licensed clinical social worker, certified substance abuse counselor, and holds equitable care certification for working with sex workers, along with training in sex therapy.
Beyond her clinical practice and academia, Sharaine provides clinical trainings for practitioners and students, and she holds significant roles in professional organizations. She serves on the Iowa Chapter of the NASW Board and is the Central Branch Chair, as well as representing Iowa for AASECT and contributing to the training committee of the Iowa Board of Certification. Her multifaceted engagements demonstrate a commitment to promoting equity, well-being, and social justice within her field.
