This workshop will compare how the new elder abuse criminal law intersects and interacts with other civil protection and community services in Iowa. A multicultural approach will be used to guide participants in greater understanding of the cultural values, roles and systems for elders in diverse communities.

 

Workshop Objectives:

1. Understand the civil, criminal and community systems in place for dependent adults and elders in IA. .

2. Understand the role of elders in different cultures.

3. Understand the importance of cultural humility when working with elders and the families from diverse communities.

4. Identify resources available in your community for support, safety of dependent adults/elders.
