In the age of various forms of social media, boundaries that exist betwwen clients and clinicial are becoming much more ambiguous. In response to this ever-changing phenomenon, this training will address ethical considerations related to dual and multiple relationships when utilizing various forms of social media.This training will discuss a myriad of ethical considerations related to providing teletherapy and electronic case management services. We will also provide suggestions regarding navigating ethical challenges related to providing services via other forms of technology (telephone, email, etc.).

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1.) Understand the bearing that social media has on our professional relationships with clients.

2.) Discuss boundary violations that can possibly occur on various forms of social media.

3.) Employ strategies useful for mitigating risks related to providing electronic services.

4.) Understand general legal considerations related to telehealth services across different jurisdictions.

 

Presenter: 
Corey Beauford, LICSW, LCSW-C:
Corey Beauford is the Founder and President of Inspired Consulting Group, LLC.  Inspired Consulting Group, LLC provides continuing education and professional development workshops focusing on a host of human services related topics. Corey currently serves as a Clinical Instructor with the University of Maryland School of Social Work’s Continuing Professional Education Department in Baltimore. Corey has almost 20 years of experience working in the HIV community. His other specialties include Co-Occurring Disorders and Ex-Offenders. 
Corey obtained his MSW from Howard University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Washington, DC and Maryland. Corey also obtained a Masters Degree in Theology at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.
